Anu Chutia won won a Gold Medal in Women’s Junior Team Sprint event at the Track Asia Cup 2015- Cycling Championship at New Delhi belid held on November 18-20. She won another Silver Medal in Women Junior 500 meter, Time Trial event. She is from Titabor, Jorhat.

Council dissolved, BTAD under Guv's Rule

Kokrajhar: Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi has dissolved the Bodoland Territorial Council on Monday following the expiry of its term amid speculations of a widening gap between BJP and BPF. Raj Bhawan issued the notification in the evening declining BPF's prayer for an extension following the COVID19 menace that forced the authority to countermand the council polls slated for April 4. BJP president Ranjit Das on Sunday said that BTAD should come under the governor's rule as soon as the term of the BPF council expires. Retired teacher passes away

Barpeta: Former headmaster of Juro Ram Pathak Girls' High School Himangshu Pathak breathed his last on Saturday morning at his residence at Gandhinagar, Barpeta. He was 87. He left behind his wife, two sons, two daughters, grandchildren, and a host of his relatives, well-wishers.  People of Barpeta mourned for the demise of their beloved 'English Sir'.

Former governor passes away

Guwahati: Veteran Congress leader and former Bihar governor Devananda Konwar passed away after prolonged illness in Guwahati on Saturday. Konwar, who was also a senior lawyer was 83 who breathed his last at his own residence in Guwahati early in the morning. He started his political career in 1955 as he was a student and represented Thowra assembly constituency in Sivasagar district.  He was a senior cabinet minister during the Hiteswar Saikia and Tarun Gogoi regimes before being appointed as governor in Bihar. Guwahati: Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) expresses serious concern over the physical attack on Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami along with his wife (Republic TV editor) Samyabrata Ray Goswami in Mumbai last night and condemns the incident with strongest words. Patharkandi: An uneasy situation is prevailing in Pathorkandhi when a trader allegedly raped a minor girl on Friday. Identified as  Munna Kanu, the 51 old businessman was arrested under mounting pressure by the local residents. Secretariat to resume work from Apr 21

COVID-19 patients gone down to 21

Guwahati: Amid the country wide lockdown Assam has reasons to heave a sigh of relief as the figure of COVID-19 patients has come down to 21 from 34 on Saturday. Three more patients were discharged from 2 different hospitals on Saturday after they received confirmation of recovery from the virus that has killed millions of people across the globe.
