JFA expresses grief at media employees’ demise
Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) has expressed its grief at the demise of two media employees on Saturday morning in an accident that took place on National highway 37 in Dergaon locality. The victims have been identified as Pankaj Medhi and Pranab Kalita, who carried the copies of The Telegraph, a prominent English daily newspaper of eastern India, to eastern Assam from Guwahati. The JFA, in a statement issued by its president Rupam Barua and secretary Nava Thakuria, also appealed to the Kolkata based management of The Telegraph to compensate the families of victims adequately, as they died on duty hours. Moreover, the forum has urged Assam government to create a corpus fund to compensate all victims of circumstances belonging to the media in addition to the respective managements.
