Udalguri district administration ready to polls
Udalguri district administration of Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) is all set to conduct the scheduled first phase of Assam assembly election for three constituencies slated to be held on April 4.
A total of 26 candidates are in fray to contesting the assembly election in three LACs that all kinds of preparation and arrangements have so far completed to conduct the election.
Nine candidates are in fray to contest in 64-Panery LAC-Kamali Basumatary(BPF),Durga Das Boro(INC),Swarnalat Chaliha(SUCI),Nandaram Boro(UPP),Dinanath Das(Independent),Prabhat Das Panika(Independent),Dikan Chandra Deka (Independent) and Mahesh Chandra Sarma(Independent).
In 69-Udalguri LAC,six candidates are in fray,included Jamansingh Brahma(INC),Rihan Daimary(BPF),Anjali Prabha Daimary((Independent),Dilip Kumar Boro(UPP),Bipul Narzary((Independent) nad Santash Madahi((Independent).
Eleven candidates are in fray to contest in 70-Mazbat LAC-Charan Boro(BPF),Teharu Gour(AIUDF),Raphael Kujur(INC),Baldev Chouhan(LJP),Abul Quasim((Independent),Girish Chandra(Independent),Manaj Kumar Tamuli(Independent),Rabindra Basumatary(UPP),Lal Soren(Independent),Sunil Sarkar(Independent) and Swapna Dey(Independent).
A grand bike rally was organised by UPP party at Tangla area in support of UPP candidate for Panery LAC Nandaram Boro on the last day of campaigning,besides candidates of parties and Independent candidates also hold their last campaigns in the respective LACs on the last day of campaigning.

Police launched a crackdown on illegal cattle smugglers and arrested ten persons on Thursday evening at Srirampur area in Kokrajhar district.
Police apprehended a truck bearing registration number AS-01GC-3837 carrying 16 cattle illegally from West Bengal bound for Bangladesh via Meghalaya.
Police also arrested Arun Lyngdoh and Munna Saikia alias Ikram Hussain, president and secretary of the All India Livestocks Trader and Transporters Association, as they were escorting the illegal cattle truck.

Members from Indian Medical Association (IMA) of Kokrajhar branch has carried out a candle light rally in Kokrajhar town on Tuesday evening in protest against the brutal killing of Dr Deben Dutta, a doctor in Teok tea estate hospital. The rally was started from Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital complex traversed to RNB Road, JD Road,fly over and concluded at the same point.
Medical fraternities have strongly protested the brutally attack and killing of Dr Dutta.
Doctor and medical staffs participated the rally with banner, placards and demanded strict actions to the culprits.
Jorhat police so far arrested 30 persons involved in the gruesome crime.

Rajya Sabha MP Biswajeet Daimary welcomes the publication of the NRC final draft.
Daimary said that the state of Assam has now got an opportunity to see illegal immigrants free state.
The NRC authority has published the draft lists on Saturday.
He said that 19.06 lakh people's names were dropped out from the final draft lists.
Daimary said that the peoples whose names were dropped from the lists, they are illegal immigrants or foreigners because they couldn't show their proper citizenship related documents.
"Illegal immigrants must be deported from the state of Assam whose names were not included in the NRC final draft published today", said Assam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma on Saturday.
Brahma while hailing the NRC final draft publication, said that this is an implementation part of the historic Assam Accord.
She said that peoples of Assam state were awaited free and fair publication of NRC draft which has come today successfully with witnessing 19.06 lakh people's names were dropped from the lists.
She has termed that this is an 'Will' of the state of Assam.

KOKRAJHAR: Citizens of the state are much awaited to see the final draft of NRC publication on Saturday . Along with rest of the state, BTAD districts are all set to publish the final draft of NRC with smooth and healthy environment.
In Kokrajhar, NRC final draft would be published in 97 NRC Seva Kendra (NSK) in the entire district.
A total 48 NSK have been identified as sensitive centre out of the 97 NSK.

KOKRAJHAR: Chirang police apprehended seven persons for illegally carrying Ganja at a checking at Chapaguri national highway late Sunday evening.
Police carried out a search operation on Sunday evening along the 31C National Highway at Chapaguri in Chirang district. During the search checking, police detected three bikes coming from Barama of Baksa district in which over 100 kgs of Ganja were illegally brought out. Police seized the Ganja and arrested persons.
The arrested persons were identified as Jwngsar Wary, Dwimalu Brahma, Kanaklal Brahma of Kokrajhar district, David Basumatary, Swmkhwr Brahma, Akash Basumatary and Dhananjay Brahma of Chirang district.
