Merritorious students felicitated

A total of 60 students,who were passed out with first division in HSLC and HS final exmainations in 2016 keeping good results within Nath Yogi community in Kokrajhar district,were given away warm welcome and felicitated at a programme held at Kokrajhar Press Club on Saturday in Kokrajhar district.

Altogether sixty students passed in first divison in Kokrajhar,of which 19 students passed in HS final examination with first division within Nath Yogi community figuring best result performance in the region.The students were felicitated and given warm welcome at a proagrmme organised by Kokrajhar district unit of Yogi Sanmiloni in association with Youth and Mahila Sanmiloni.Madhav Prasad Sarma, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner, Shyam Prasad Saikia,SP Kokrajhar,Derhasat Basumatary,former BTC executive member,Prakash Nath, president BTAD Yogi Sanmiloni,Hiteswar Barman,AKRSU president,Manaj Daimary,BDO,Kokrajhar attended the programme as guests with Najen Chandra Nath,president of Kokrajhar dtisrict unit of Sanmiloni in the chair.Saikia appreciated the initiative to felicitate students among society said that it will encourage students to be dedicated more while taking higher studies in the life.He has urged students community to be studious for taking higher studies looking a near future bright and held a healthy society in the region.

Najen Chandra Nath,president,Sanmiloni said, “This function has been organised to felicitate students who were passed with good result in the district whin Nath Yogi community in HSLC & HS final examinations.We hope this kind of function will bring encourgaement among students in the region”.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district. Sonam Basumatary of Bodoland Territorial Region scored the lone goal against Lai Autonomous in 51 minutes of the second half. This led his team to win the tournament 1-0. The Bodoland team won the final match of the ISPL. Lai Autonomous District Council tried to equalise the score by scoring, but failed to score any goal against the Bodoland team. Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language. Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi) Presently, Boro is the head of the department of Bodo at Bodoland University. She has authored many books in Bodo language and contributed a lot to the uplift and development of Bodo literature. Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court. Mevani was sent into police custody for three days. Mevani was arrested late last night in Gujarat by Assam Police after BJP leader Arup Kumar Dey filed an FIR with Kokrajhar police station. KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened  in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. The victim was rushed to the RNB civil hospital in Kokrajhar. Mukesh Kumar of Bihar was identified as the victim. KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar. The smuggled Ganja was bound for Bihar from Agartala in a Scorpio vehicle, bearing registration no.BR 11V-7551.
BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020. The bail was granted by Kokrajhar's chief judicial magistrate.
