Flood situation worsen in Kaziranga Nation Park
Flood situation in Kaziranga National Park, the only World heritage Site in Assam, is again taking a disastrous form. With the rise of water level in the river Brahmaputra, new areas have come under the threat of flood. Nearly 70% area under Burapahar range of KNP is being water logged. On the other hand areas like Kohora and Agaratali is also being flooded. If the water level continues to rise at such a rapid speed the situation is most likely to deteriorate very soon. The situation may become more aggravated if the rainfall increases in the days to come.
In another incident a rhino died due to natural cause in Kohora range of KNP. In this year nearly 65 rhinos have died due to natural causes.

The peace and silence of Kaziranga National Park(KNP), the home to the world famous one horn rhino, has been shattered once again by the blazing of guns when an encounter took place between suspected poachers and forest security officials. Ikramul Mazid, the range officer of Burapahar range informed this correspondent that they heard gun shots at around 3.40 am in the morning near the Tuni Kati and Lahoroni forest camp. In yet another bizarre incident that runs into a hail of surprise, a magistrate was arrested when he was trying to bribe KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday.
Police arrested Golaghat district additional deputy commissioner Anamuddin Ahmed in Jorhat when he approach Gogoi with Rs 5 lakh in cash as bribe at around 8-30 in the evening.
Gogoi, who refused to accept the amount as bribe informed the police who later rushed to the spot and arrested the magistrate.
