BTC all party delegation to meet CM

BTC Legislative Assembly has resolved to send an all party delegation team to meet Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal within few days to appraise about various issues and grievances including fund enhancement, receive of revenue taxes, implementation of project and schemes in the council in the ongoing Budget Session.

Meanwhile, Opposition members’ demanded clarity expressing displeasure about budgets presented yesterday to run the council involving all kinds of plan and non plan receives from governments.

The BTC budget session enters today second day with Tridiv Daimary, Speaker of BTC Legislative Assembly in the chair. Members both from ruling and opposition join hands on the general discussion on the budget presented yesterday by BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, who is also finance in-charge. The discussion lasted nearly one and half hour on the budget figuring properly indication and implementation of budgets tabled to meet healthy running in the council.

Opposition MCLA and UPP leader Rwngwra Narzary initiated his first participation on the discussion, raised question on the presented budget allocation which had tabled only 462.66 crores for the financial year of 2016-17 for BTC yesterday. The presented budget was to be 2182.95 crores indicating plan and non plan allocations from the governments. He has suggested that the budget should be presented on clarity with indicating over all receive and expenditures flowing from governments.

Narzary expressed displeasure over the presented budgets for council because the budget could not go detailed with proper indication of audacity.

“There is no word of satisfied or dissatisfied on the budget because the presented BTC budget was not in detailed manner’, Narzary said adding that the ruling council should take bold step to clarify and correct about tabled budget pattern. He said that opposition members also extended support to join hands in an all party delegation to be led by council leaders to meet CM Sonowal to apprise about fund enhances as well several developmental projects in the council area”, Rwngwra said.

More opposition members from UPP, included Maoti Brahma Hazoary,Nirmal Chandra Brahma,Jiran Basumatary,Jyotirindra Brahma were also participated on the discussion and urged the ruling party to be clarity while preparing budgets for the council.

BTC chief Mohilary, deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary replied questions raised from Opposition members in the house. Mohilary said that the BTC has been received only limited funds to run council from governments, which was tabled in the budget speech. He has opined to go an all party delegation team from the council to meet CM to seek proper implementation and healthy fund enhancement. He said that the council is getting Bineswar Brahma Engineering College, a full-fledged college in the ongoing budget session of the state, besides medical College also getting minimum budgets to gain educational packages in the region.

He said, ‘we do hope BJP led alliance government will fulfill peoples’ expectation and aspirations through giving priority of funding pattern’.

“An all party delegation party will be proceeding to meet Chief Minister immediately to appraise about the developmental funds’ enhancement, scheme implementations. We have various issue and problems, these will be highlighted during meeting, which including revenue, taxes receives. We have yet to implement various project and schemes which were under taken by us due to none receive of proper funds from governments. We would put pressure government to engaged local youths in BRPL and NTPC, Salakati in the region”, Mohilary said.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
