Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday reviewed the law and order situation in Assam a day after ULFA scorned the security forces with a series of blast amid the Independence Day celebrations.
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi along with top IB officials apprised the minister of the security scenario in the north eastern states of Assam and Manipur.
Sources told Assam Times in Delhi that the minister asked the officials to ensure peace and normalcy at an earlier date.
ULFA-I rebels exploded a series of bombs in Tinsukia and Charaideo districts on Monday when the state joined the countrywide Independence Day celebrations. But there was report of any casualty.
The rebel outfit on Tuesday has claimed the responsibility of the attack where they said that they ensured zero casualty in the serial armed protest against the three day long I-Day celebrations.
