Joy of Christmas evening

The north eastern people residing in Delhi and NCR celebrated the Christmas evening with no less pomp and gaiety.

The Nagaland and Mizoram Bhawans in the capital have dressed afresh with colorful decoration of lights surrounding the Christmas trees.

The Nagaland House in Race Course area in the capital gets a different look with a huge crowd for midnight carol followed by special prayer on Sunday morning.

Same festivity grips the Meghalaya House premises which pulled huge crowd in the evening amid the colourful decoration of Christmas tree.

Manipuri Christian people also rushed to the Manipur House in the evening to participate in the carol and prayers.

“We are trying our best to celebrate the much vaunted occasion from this evening. Defying a pinching coldwave we are holding midnight carol on the occasion,” said a staff member who works in Meghalaya House.

“We are visiting the church tomorrow morning to attend the special prayer since we can't afford to go to our homes in Itanagar. That’s why, we are preparing for the midnight carol here,” said a staff member with the Arunachal House.

NEW DELHI:In an effort to quell any law and order problem ahead of the publication of final draft National Register of Citizens (NRC) the state government on Wednesday has sought more central paramilitary forces from the Home Ministry. “We have sought for more central paramilitary forces. NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday extended by a months its 30 June deadline for the publication of the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) draft. The bench gave the extension after the Centre and the state NRC coordinator agreed to publish it within the new 30 July deadline. A bench of justices Ranjan Gogoi and RF Nariman considered the report of Assam NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela and extended the deadline.   NEW DELHI : The much hyped fate of the final draft publication of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) would be decided on July 2 with the Supreme Court expected to deliver its judgement as to the date when the complete draft NRC would be published. NEW DELHI: BJP central leadership is understood to have cleared the decks for the Assam cabinet expansion at the end of an hour long meeting between Amit Shah and Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi on Friday.  Senior party leaders who refused to be named told Assam Times that Shah and Sonowal finalized the induction of eight new members in the expended cabinet where three sitting ministers would be dropped.  Of the ten new faces AGP and BPF have one each while others are BJP legislators who are expected to take oath in a day or two.  Chief minister Sonowal, however, avoided the media persons, who were waiting outside the official residence if the BJP president.
