The Christmas festivity grips Assam along with other parts of the globe on Saturday where churches are teeming with people for midnight Carole.
Every households of the Christians are getting decorated with Christmas tree to be dazzled in the evening. Sweets and pastries are flooding the households to be served to the near and dear ones.
The sounds of bells and carols are slowly emerging from the nicely decorated churches. “We are here to participate in the midnight carol and we do believe that Christ would help us restore peace across this planet,” said Zabini Naroh at the Christianbasti church premises.
Henry Watson, a tribal college boy from Diphu who was on a visit to Guwahati is fully prepared to attend the carol at the Panbazar Baptist Church. “I had to come to Guwahati for an urgent task to be done today. This is over. I was to go back. But in the same breath, I can't miss the midnight carol. I am leaving tomorrow only after the open special prayer,” said Watson.
Same pomp and gaiety seem to have gripped the Don Bosco in Panbazar and Assam Don Bosco University in Azara where people of all walks of live are participating in the carol.
Churches in Nagaon, Morigaon, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Barpeta, Dhubri, Charaideo, Biswanath Chariali are pulling no less crowd for mid night carol.
All churches have organized special Christmas prayer on Sunday. Assam governor BL Puruhit, Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal have greeted the people on the occasion.
