Sahara Club under Hattigor tea estate was registered in the year 2011. And since its conception, the club could not run smoothly due to the inconvenience faced by the then president and secretary, the club could not come up with the adopted events such as sports, cultural items etc. But this preceding year under the presidentship of Ranji Tanti, principal of Bright Star English Medium school, a social worker, a good leader of the society, the club has risen back and is resuming with the said events. Again, in the meantime the club is also going to hold a champion’s trophy cricket tournament in the vicinity of Khairabari playground of Hattigor tea estate from 19th February. So the willing teams are requested to admit in the tournament on or before 19. The tournament will be held in a unique manner with developed features.
Tanti also added that in near future for the all-round development of the area will continue with the favorable events including outdoor games, indoor games, cultural items etc.

Men-elephant conflict refuses to die down in Indo-Bhutan border of Udalguri. After a brief lull, two women lost their lives in two different incidents of attack on men on Friday.
The first incident took place in Dharamjuli T.E. under Khagrabari outpost where a wild elephant trampled to death Kalpana Koyan, a 45 year old woman.
The shocking incident took place at garden in wee hours when the elephants suddenly barged into estate colony.

A patient named by one Helena Nag (25) died at a government-run laparoscopy sterilization programme held at Nonaipara tea estate hospital on Saturday. Hundreds of oter women did not participate in the sterilization camp fearing death.
According to locals, the sterilization camp was organsied with inadequate provision of surgical equipments and carried out by unskilled of medical staff in the tea estate hospital.
An FIR was lodged at Paneri police station on this incident.
