Tension still runs at Rowta in Udalguri district of lower Assam two days after the sporadic incidents of violence that left one dead and twenty others injured. More than 3000 people mostly Bodos are camping at the school and college buildings in Udalguri who have left home fearing attack on Wednesday.

According to information, the situation is under control but the BTAD administration is asking for more police forces to deal with the situation firmly.

Notably, the clash took place on Wednesday during a 12 hour Assam bandh call by a Muslim organisation when some supporters were trying to forcibly close some shops in the area. One Ajit Rabha who was injured in the clash died on Thursday.

It's sure that one day Assam will be a part of Bangladesh. Because of our political system, this is happening. I feel, we are responsible for that. CM is also a Assamese but because of vote bank and power, he totally turned the issue.

If the Bodos had to leave Rowta (which is their stronghold) and take shelter in Udalguri, imagine what has happened to Assam. It shows that the Bangladeshis are there in Rowta in full strength, it's time Assam Govt, AASU wakes up and save Assam.

Centre to take up case with B'desh: Chidambaram

Hours after the string of blas that rattled the north eastern city of Guwahati, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi spoke to External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee seeking India's diplomatic pressure on Bangladesh so that North Eastern insurgent groups do not find shelter in that country. Union home minister P Chidambaram who was in the city hold a close door meeting with Gogoi where the Chief Minister admitted to lapses in security forces that could have prevented the blasts. The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has claimed the responsibility of the 3 blasts in Guwahati that killed 5 people and over 50 injured today. Serial blast in Guwahati: 5 dead, 50 injured

At least five persons died and more than 30 others have been injured when three blast rocked Guwahati before the arrival of Union home minister P Chidambaram on Thursday evening.The first one took place at around 3-30 in the afternoon at Birubari area here three persons have been injured. The bomb as kept inside a GMC dustbin.This was followed but the blast at Bhotnath where three persons and ten others have been injured. It as planted on a bi-cycle which exploded at around 5-30 in the evening.Minutes after it, another bomb rocked Bhanagarh area where three dead and 30 injured. The bomb exploded under the flyover.

Fire at Charaideo: 2 died

Two persons died and properties worth more than ten lakh were reduced to ashes when a devastating fire broke out at Salkathoni area in Charaideo sub division in upper Assam's Sivasagar district on Thursday.
