End of blockade in Manipur
In a huge respite for Manipur, the United Naga Council is lifting the 130 day long paralyzing economic blockade on Monday.
The influential organization of the Nagas in Manipur unanimously finalized the move after the new government assured them of measures to redress their grievances at an earlier date.
From Monday morning two vitals highways, the safe route for transporting essential commodities would resume.
Many organizations, political parties and individuals have welcomed the UNC decision to call off the blockade which has caused immense inconvenience in many parts of the north eastern state.
UNC began the blockade from November 1 after the erstwhile Congress government announced seven new district triggering anger and protest among the Nagas in the hills districts.
During his poll rally Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the people of steps to end the blockade if the people vote BJP to power.

Amid unprecedented security measures, the second and final phase of assembly polling ended in Manipur on Wednesday with huge turn out which might touch the 85 per cent mark.Barring a few stray incidents, the polling at 1151 covering 22 constituencies were by and large peaceful where the people on large number exercised their franchise to decide on the fate of 98 candidates who include Okram Ibobi Singh and rights crusader Irom Sharmila.Both they are directly pitted against each other in Thoubal constituency.Voting began at 7in the morning where electorates in large number made huge queue in front of the booths to exercise their franchise.

The first phase of assembly polls ended in Manipur with a massive 84 pet cent turn out on Saturday. The turn out figure is tentative which us expected to go up after the receipt of all informations from the remote areas.
