VCDC office locked, documents torched

Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) supporters Tuesday torched the Debitola Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) office under Parbatjhora constituency in Kokrajhar district in protest against the replacement of its existing chairman.

Some100 BPF activists and party supporters gheraoed the VCDC office at Debitola adjacent the block development office and locked the office with keys and it to fire. Several official documents and office property were charred in the incident.

The agitated party supporters alleged that some local party leaders replaced Anteswar Rabha in place of existing chairman Chanmiya Talukdar at Debitola VCDC. BPF supporters are against the replacement.

“We are against the appointment of the chairman who is not in favour of locals,” said an agitated BPF supporter.
