KKHSOU VC denies corruption allegation

Professor Srinath Barooah, founder vice-chancellor of Krisnakanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU), has denied allegations of financial and other irregularities, leveled against him by his former colleagues. Terming the allegations as baseless he said, in a press conference here on Wednesday, that the his ex-colleagues tried to take revenge on him by leveling allegation of misappropriation fund and  other irregularities during his tenure as vice-chancellor of the university. Meanwhile, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal ordered an enquiry against the former vice-chancellor on complaint of the management of the KKHSOU. The university management alleged that the former vice-chancellor embezzled the university fund to the tune of rupees 12 crore during his tenure from 2008 to 2015. Interestingly, the chancellor as well as the governor of the state ordered separate enquiry against the present vice-chancellor of the university on a complaint lodged by the former vice-chancellor Barooah. The former vice-chancellor alleged that the present vice-chancellor has tried to misappropriate rupees 33 crore buying unnecessarily land for the university.
