Pall of gloom descends on chopper crash victim H.N Deka's village
A pall of gloom descended on Panbari Paghali Village adjacent to Jajori of Morigaon district,the native Village of Indian Army soldier Hemananda deka,popularly known as 'Okoni',who was killed when an Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17 V5 helicopter crashed near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh,close to Indo-China border on Friday morning killing all seven military personnel on board.
The family members were shocked to hear the news and were inconsolable. Hemananda Deka is survived by his parents,wife with a six year old baby girl.
Son of Nandiram Deka and Binda deka, 34-year-old Hemananda joined Indian Army in the year 2002 at the age of 19 as cadet.As soon as the news of his demise spread across,thousands of people of nearby villages reached Hemananda's residence and tried to console his family members. As per locals,Hemanda was of a cool nature and helpful to each and everyone.
Meanwhile, Hemananda’s body is likely to reach the village in the late evening and will be cremated at his native village. MLA of Batadrava Angoorlata deka condoled the saddened demise of soldier Hemananda deka and extended her heartfelt sympathies to the members of bereaved family.
It may be mentioned here that Mi-17 V5 IAF chopper crashed around 6.30 a.m on Friday at an altitude of 17,000 feet near Tawang when it was on an air maintenance mission.The helicopter was flying to Yangtse to drop off kerosene jerry cans at an Army camp.The charred bodies of seven,including the pilot, co-pilot, flight engineer and two army soldiers were found at the crash site close to the border with China.

Four young greater adjutant storks, a highly endangered stork species,were found at Chakalaghat in the Nagaon district on Wednesday. Some locals spotted the young adjutant storks close land adjacent to Barbhety Simolutol PWD road and rescued them with providing initial care. The storks were later handed over to Forest officials of Nagaon. It may be mentioned here that Near to chalaghat their was a tall tree where Some greater adjutant storks had nested in. A nine year old boy met watery grave at a pond at a remote hamlet in Nagaon district casting a pall of gloom in the entire area on Saturday. The tragic incident took place at Aadhakhunda village in Juria in the afternoon where Abu Hasan, son of Sarafat Ali accidentally fell into a pond near his house as he was playing with his friends on Saturday. Identified as Rana Bordoloi is alleged to have killed his wife Sabitri by setting her on fire at their home in Palengtoli,Barkola in the afternoon. Local residents who refused to be named told Assam Times said because of domestic violence, Rana poured kerosene on his wife and threw fire at her and the fire charred her on the spot. One person died and four others sustained grave injury after the vehicle in which they were travelling turned turtle on the road after it rammed into the divider in Nagaon on Tuesday. The bizarre road mishap took place at Nonoi Arjuntol on thr National Highway No 37 in the morning. The injured have been battling for life at the civil hospital. Identified as Abdul Kadir, he died on the spot. Eye witnesses, mostly, have blamed rash driving for thr tragic road mishap.
