A girls friendly Kabaddi match was organised on Wednesday at Chandrapara ground in Kokrajhar district in connection with the celebration of ‘International Day of the Girl Child’ marked huge participation from many villages.
The celebration was organised by Nedan Foundation,Kokrajhar in association with UNICEF Assam with theme of ‘Empower girls:Before,during and after crisis’ which has been aimed sports for development of girl child.
In the match, Kachugaon Club lifted the trophy defeating Lungsung Club by 3-2 sets. Priskila of Lunsung Club was awarded best player in the match.
Monojit Ray, social activist and secretary of Chandrapara Bijulipara Navarathna Millan Sangha graced the function as guest and emphasized to the importance of sports for everyone along with regular studies. He also laid stressed on the importance of education along with sports to make own best career.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district.
