5 extortionists held

Police arrested five persons for involved with extortions at Dholmara area under Salakati police outpost late night in Kokrajhar district.

According to police, a gang of five members,who are moving near and far at various places in the state to extort money from common peoples by showing pretend of Hanuman Gold among citizens since last few months.  Following a case registered at Dispur PS, case registered no. 2748/17 U/S 120b/387IPC, Salakati police in association with Dispur police conducted a raid and search operation at Dholmara area in Kokrajhar late night and able to apprehend five accused persons. Four of arrested have been sent to Dispur PS and one has been being interrogated at Salakati police outpost in Kokrajhar.

They have been identified as Moktal Husaain,Ainal Sheik,Mojor Ali of Garokota under Kokrajhar PS, Hari Sutradhar of Narayanpur in Bongaigaon district and Sahjamal Sheik of Kokrajhar.

The arrested have extorted huge money from peoples in many areas in Guwahati and Kokrajhar district by showing Hanuman Gold pictures. Citizens have also paid money on their pretended on many occasions and later a case was registered at Dispur PS against them.

‘A strong search operation and investigation is on into incident and hoped that main master mind of the gang of the extortion would be booked’, said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.
