KOKRAJHAR: Train services in BTAD areas remained heavily disrupted when hundreds of leaders and activities from the Adivashi National Convention Committee blocked the railway tracks in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. The blockade began at the Kokrajhar rail station at 6 in the morning demanding Scheduled Tribe(ST) status to the community, land pattas for the people living in forest areas and meaningful talks with the Adivashi militant outfits.
However, train services resumed only after 12.45 pm as the agitators lifted the blockade. Railway passengers have face hardships due to disruption of communication in several parts of the Assam as well West Bengal and Bihar in the blockade. The blockade has forced the Northeast Frontier Railway to cancel at least five trains and to reschedule two Rajdhani Express(Dn) and Bengalore(Dn).
