Huge trouble for BJP

KOHIMA: Huge trouble brews for BJP in the poll bound north eastern state of Nagaland where a news portal claimed to have possessed evidence of how a party top gun was caught by rebels inside a hotel with girls.

According to The News Joint, the rebels fighting for a greater Nagalim and who have been dead opposed to the February 27 assembly polls, are believed to have caught senior party leader Ram Madhab inside a hotel in Dimapur with two girls.

Caught in a Catch 22 situation, the BJP heavyweight who handles the party's north eastern affairs called up Himanta Biswa Sarma to his rescue. His man Friday found it a herculean task to deal with the difficulties.

Armed with this situation, now the Naga rebels are believed to have mounted pressure on the BJP led government at the Centre to halt the process failing which they would publicly release the video tape in question which is bound to touch off a seismic wave of reactions amid the electioneering heat and dust in the north eastern state.

Under pressure from the rebels, a group of civil society organizations got a joint declaration signed by the major political parties not to contest the polls. A day after they signed the declaration, BJP defied it encouraging others to follow the suit. Despite differences, the party struck poll deal with NDPP led by former chief minister Neiphu Rio.

Top BJP leaders have been urging prime minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to campaign for the party candidate who are learnt to have agreed.
