Agitators tonsure demanding Bodoland


Kokrajhar: Hundreds of activists from All Bodo Students Union(ABSU),National Democratic Front of Boroland-Progressive(NDFBP) and Peoples Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement(PJACBM) have resumed the path of agitation in search of separate Bodoland statehood.

The agitators thronged Kokrajhar  on Thursday and tonsured reiterating the demand under Article 2 & 3 of Indian constitution.

In Kokrajhar, hundreds of peoples from all walks of life from Bodo organisations participated the betrayal day staged in front of DC office with banner,placards  demanding political dialogue.

A memorandum was submitted to Prime Minister, Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioners  seeking solutions to the long standing demand.

The ABSU and its allied movement groups NDFB-P, PJACBM slammed the BJP led NDA government at the centre as well state for not taking initiative to solve the Bodoland statehood issue as Bodo organisations are demanding since long years to meet healthy living.

ABSU president Promod Boro and several movement activists have balded their heads to show their solidarity to the Bodoland demand and issues. The movement groups alleged that BJP led NDA government has been failed to fulfill hopes and aspirations of the Bodos as BJP kept promises during the 2014 parliamentary elections.

The movement groups have announced more agitation programmes in support of Bodoland issue beginning from May 2 next,which are included five day national highway blockade,indefinite hunger strike, 36-hours chakka bandh and railway blockade.

 The Bodoland movement will continue till achieve Bodoland state, said ABSU.
Boro criticised the government for insincerity attitude toward Bodoland issues which is standing pending long years. He has urged the government to take bold step while solving Bodoland issue and demands through political dialogue.

Over the Cabinet expansion in the state, Boro termed that it was nothing but a political milege to gain political aspects. He had urged that government should comeforward to the positive way to meet healthy solution of the Bodos.

'Cabinet expansion is coming and going in the government structure, but our issues are remaining unsolved ',Boro said.
Former Rajya Sabha and UPPL president UG Brahma demanded early solution of Bodoland demand and issues to get good governance in the region.

'The ABSU, NDFB-P and PJACBM have been demanding resume of tripartite talks on Bodoland issues wira government, but government tactically delayed the process.I appealed government for holding peace talk with movement groups to meet healthy integration and uplift ',Brahma said.
