Major train accident averted in Morigaon
A major train accident was averted in Morigaon district on Monday. He was a villager who stopped an express passenger train on finding that the sleeper of a railway track missing at a place near Thekeraguri railway station.
According to information, the villager waved his clothes tied to a bamboo pole to signal the approaching Guwahati-Dimapur Jansatabdi Express train to stop. He came to notice the sleepers below five-meter stretch of the railway tracks missing while crossing the tracks.
The speeding train managed to stop at about 500 metres from the location, sources said. Senior railway officials who rushed there and passengers rewarded the villager.
