Rongali Bihu celebration by Samanmay Social Welfare Youth Organisation
On Tuesday, the Samanmay Social Welfare Youth Organisation, Margherita Committee organised a One Day Rongali Bihu celebration and felicitation programme at Margherita India Club.
Lakhikanta Borah President of Samanmaya Social welfare youth organisation Margherita central committee unfurled the organisation flag, followed by members planting saplings.
Dr Ranjit Dutta noted social worker, celebrated writer and poet of Ledo, Margherita, presided over the Rongali Bihu celebration where Bihu dance and songs from various parts of Margherita were performed and enthralled the whole audience.
An open session was held, presided by Dr. Ranjit Dutta, where distinguished persons of Margherita region were feliciated for their contributions in various fields. The distinguished persons included Dil Bahadur Sonar, noted tea planter of Margherita; Debojit Baruah, noted educationist of Margherita; Umesh Borah, noted writer of Margherita; and Bobby Hazarika, women entrepreneur and Asom Gaurav awardee from Margherita. Hirkhojyoti Neog, general secretary of Samanmay social welfare youth organisation, moderated the whole ceremony, which thanked all the people for making the program successful.

MARGHERITA: AJYCP leaders and workers in Margherita hit the streets on Wednesday in protest against the move to form the greater Nagalim with the inclusion of some areas of Assam. With banners, play cards and festoones, the protestors shouted slogans warning the government of dire consequences if Assam is forced to shed even an inch of land in the name of Nagalim.
