Poster, Trailer, and Songs of Assamese Film ‘Prastawana – The Preamble’ Launched in Guwahati

Guwahati: The team behind the Assamese film Prastawana – The Preamble unveiled its poster, trailer, and soundtrack at a vibrant event in Juripar, Panjabari, Guwahati. Directed by Dilip Borah and Manik Roy, the film is set for release within the next two to three months, following its announcement last year.

Adapted from Dilip Borah’s acclaimed novel Yatra, inspired by true events, the film is produced by Borah and Dr. Rabin Saikia. It has already generated buzz with the release of three striking posters, a compelling trailer, and three soulful songs. Borah, a celebrated novelist, short story writer, essayist, and columnist, brings his evocative storytelling to the screen, while co-director Manik Roy, a stalwart of Assam’s theatre scene and founder of Guwahati Shishu Natya Vidyalaya, infuses the film with his dramatic expertise.

Prastawana – The Preamble delves into the socio-political challenges facing India, focusing on the detrimental impact of political interference on students and the education system. It exposes the injustices and exploitation resulting from such dynamics, serving as a powerful call to action for the youth to uphold the constitutional values of justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity.

Dilip Borah emphasized the film’s relevance, stating, “It addresses critical issues like distrust, communal unrest, caste-based judgments, and efforts to mislead the younger generation. We aim to spark awareness and inspire audiences to embrace the principles of our Constitution.” Lead actor Tapan Das shared, “Portraying this challenging role under Dilip Borah’s guidance was a unique experience. His novel Yatra deeply moved me, and I’ve given my all to meet the expectations.”

The film boasts a stellar crew, with cinematography by Bitul Das, editing by National Award-winner A. Sreekar Prasad and Jhulan Krishna Mahanta, sound design by Arnab Bora, and sound mixing by Debajit Gayan. Art direction is by Gulok Saha, costumes by Sumon Phukan, color grading by Ghanashyam Kalita, and VFX & CGI by Mrigank Pratic Parashar. Uttam Deka serves as production controller, with still photography by Nilakshi Neog. The soundtrack features three tracks: “Swahidor Kesa Rocktere” by Satya Ranjan Bhuyan, “O Maji Re” by Hiteswar Ray, and a Jeng Bihu song performed by Manjyotsna Mahanta, with lyrics by Amarjyoti Kakoty and Swapna Jyoti Thengal. The background score is composed by Quan Bay.

The ensemble cast includes Tapan Das, Paarvee Baruah, Hillol Kumar Pathak, Debajit Mazumdar, Aswini Kumar Bhuyan, Abatosh Bhuyan, Kaushik Nath, RK, Simanta Raj Sarma Kondoli, Manik Roy, and Antara GG Choudhury.
