In a milestone for education in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), the Udalguri Campus of Bodoland University was inaugurated on Wednesday at Udalguri College.
The new campus, part of the BTR government’s “Smart Bodoland” vision, aims to enhance access to higher education for students in Udalguri district and neighbouring areas. Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTR, Pramod Boro, formally inaugurated the facility in the presence of Bodoland University Vice-Chancellor Prof. B.L. Ahuja, Registrar Dr. Subung Basumatary, ABSU president Dipen Boro, Bodo Sahitya Sabha general secretary Nilakanta Goyary, along with academicians, principals, senior citizens, students, and guardians.
From the 2025 academic session, the campus will operate from Udalguri College before moving to its permanent site at Dwifang. Initially, it will house three departments — Political Science, Education, and Bodo — with guest faculty members.
Speaking at the event, CEM Pramod Boro highlighted the BTR government’s commitment to improving education quality. “An educated Bodoland is the first step to building an empowered Bodoland. The new campus will create better opportunities for our students and contribute to the academic growth of the region,” he said.
ABSU president Dipen Boro described the inauguration as a “historic step” fulfilling a long-standing demand of the student body. He expressed hope that the campus would meet the aspirations of students seeking higher education in the region.
