Bodoland University Gets Its First Science Innovation Hub

Bodoland University marked a new milestone in science education with the inauguration of its first Science Innovation Hub for Physics at the university campus. The facility was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. B. L. Ahuja in the presence of faculty members and students from various science departments.

In his address, Prof. Ahuja announced that the hub will gradually be expanded into a full-fledged centre covering all branches of science, equipped with modern instruments. He highlighted that such initiatives are vital for nurturing scientific curiosity and promoting innovation among the youth of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The hub currently hosts 30 working science models, designed and developed by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), Rajasthan Chapter, Jaipur, based on the theme “Play, Enjoy and Learn.” These models are aimed at making science concepts engaging and easily understandable for students and the general public alike.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Yogesh K. Vijay, President of IAPT Rajasthan Chapter and former Vice Chancellor of Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur, explained the design and working of the models. He noted that IAPT has already set up over 80 innovation hubs across India, and the Bodoland centre would help bridge the gap in science outreach in the region.

The inauguration was also attended by Prof. Sanjay Basumatary (Director, IQAC), Prof. Sandeep Das (Head, Department of Biotechnology), and Prof. H. Bailung (Head, Department of Physics). Nearly 80 students from different science disciplines actively participated in the programme.

The Science Innovation Hub at Bodoland University is expected to emerge as a unique platform for hands-on learning, experiential education, and fostering a scientific temper among students in the region.
