Bokakhat MLA Jiten Gogoi arrested

After weeks of will-they-won't-they, police have arrested Bokakhat MLA Jiten Gogoi who have physically assaulted a forest official two months back at the Kaziranga National Park.

Gogoi was arrested a day after the Gauhati High Court has rejected his anticipatory bail plea he moved after police initiated action to arrest him. Notably, Gogoi with Thowra MLA and former ULFA rebel Kushal Duwari assulted a forest official at the KNP when they were denied permission to fish inside the park. The court further has rejected Kushal Duwari's anticipatory bail plea and since then he has been missing.
