Big extortion racket busted.Two NDFB leader arrested
The Udalguri district has been infested with the terrorists and extortion activities of NDFB(Anti Talk) who had been off late targeting the tea gardens of the district by slapping rupees one crore extortion demand duly signed by its leader Daikhang (self styled deputy commander of central battalion).To avert the evil design of the terrorists,315 Field Regiment (KARGIL) of the Red Horns Division had been painstakingly collecting intelligence about their network and modus operandi.On specific information on Aug 31, the unit struck with precision and apprehended Nokul Daimary of village Alikah, Paneri and Swrangsa Daimary of village Balishita,Udalguri.A pistol alongwith live ammunition and extortion pads of NDFB(anti talk) were recovered from the duo. They confessed to having served the Rs.1crore extortion notes to the three premium tea gardens of the area between July and August 2010.On enquiry they revealed operating on behalf of Dwidem Daimary alias Khungur of Ambagaon and a close associate of Daikhang.The money collected thus was being used to finance the terror module of anti nationals.The arrest of these dreaded extortionists has sent a wave of relief amongst the planters and has acted as a major dampener in the funding of the NDFB (anti talk). Kargil Gunners, who have been at the forefront of re establishing the rule of law and spread of peace in Udalguri district have once again proved their mettle by methodically developing intelligence and swiftly launching the operations.Other linkmen involved in the extortion network are currently on the run with the security forces in their hot pursuit.The two arrested cadres alongwith the recoveries were handed over to the police for subsequent investigation.

Assamese community in Kuwait under the aegis of Asom Association, Kuwait has celebrated the Rongali Bihu with traditional gaiety & funfair on 13th of May 2011 at Al-Murzan Hall of Hotel Crown Plaza. The highlight of the evening was an enthralling performance by renowned singing maestro from North-east Smti Shanta Uzir accompanied by her Music composer husband Mr Bhupen Uzir. Smti Uzir entertained the crowd with her everlasting melodies rightly blended with the lots of hit tracks from other renowned singers of the region and a medley of Bihu numbers. The jam-packed audience swayed to the rhythm of the music fully engrossed till the end. Other major attractions were a number of variety program performed by the members of Assam Association and their children. Amid an ambience replicating the Assamese culture & panoramic sceneries decorating the venue, Bihu Husori by members was an instant hit with the crowd. Among the programs, notable were a melodious Chorus by the members, Zikir by children, and Assamese Folk Dance by the little ones and a well-choreographed fusion dance by the girls.
The program was inaugurated by His Excellency Sri Vidhu P Nair, Charge d’Affaires, Indian Embassy, Kuwait with traditional lighting of the lamp. An exhibition was also organized displaying the rich art & culture of the region which was well adored by all. To commemorate the occasion, a colourful souvenir ‘Jetuka’ showcasing the art & literary work of the community was released by His Excellency. Other major attractions were the Raffle prize “one Return Ticket to Mumbai” by Jet airways, and gift hampers by Ajmal Group. Evening ended with a gracious multi-course dinner which was savored by one and all. Several leading houses came forward to sponsor the event which included Ajmal group, Ceasars Group, Jet Airways, Gulf Bank, MI Swaco, Smith International, Hughes Christensen, Moghul Mahal to name a few. A day after recruiting 13 new parliamentary secretaries chief minister Tarun Gogoi is set to induct two minister afresh in is cabinet. The beneficiaries are Gautom Roy and Siddique Ahmed.
Gogoi is understood to have told the duo over telephone on Monday. Governor PB Acharya will administer oath of office and secrecy to both Roy and Ahmed on Wednesday.
The 13 parliamentary secretaries will take oath from the chief minister in the same function at the Raj Bhawan. Siddique, the close associate of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma was shunted out last year after Dr Sama resigned before the governor. Later Roy, who was a loyalist of the dissident camp was axed when Gogoi reshuffled his cabinet.

BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary termed those militant organizations in the state becoming strength less, they only trying to show their strength by planting IED or firing indiscriminately targeting innocent. Along with the rest of the country, the 70th Independence Day was celebrated at Govt HS & MP School ground with pomp and gaiety in Kokrajhar. Mohilary hoisted the national tricolor flag amidst huge gathering of public and inspects the guard of honour and salute the parade march by the security personnels and students from various educational institutions. A colourful cultural programmme was also showcase by the students from various institutions. Personals that were achieved in different field were felicitated on the occasion with games and sports were also organized among the children. People from all walk of life including local leaders, seniors citizen, school children participated in the celebration.
Various awards like Chief Minister Best Community award for development 2015 went to Arai Swmkhwr NGO. The Independence Day was also observed in different parts of the district including the two sub-divisional - Gossaigaon and Parbhatjhora in the district.
Mohilary said that militant organizations in the state have lost their strength and bases that is why they have penetrating activities like firing,killing,planting IED,explosion of bombs targeting innocent publics. He has expressed his concern over attack and killing in several districts of the state by armed militants.
Mohilary also appeals all section of the people to maintain peace and harmony.
“Armed organizations of the state have lost their strength, so they have been penetrating anti-social activities like killing, bomb planting. Militant outfits losing their strengths of which why they are taking strike activities”,Mohilary added.
