Dr. Bhaben Choudhury, an eminent ENT specialist from Assam, had taken over charge as the President of Association of Otolaryngologists of India, the national body of ENT doctors on 6th January last at Chennai, bringing glory to Assam and North Eastern states. Dr. Choudhury is the first Assamese, who holding this prestigious post. Dr. Bhanen Choudhury is the Chief ENT consultant and Managing Director of Sanjevani Hospital, Guwahati.

A total of 80 patients were seen in a free cancer detection camp held at Sanjevani Hospital in which 20% was found to have pre cancerous lesions and two patients was detected cancer in the oral cavity. The camp was held recently in the Department of E..N.T. headed by senior consultant Dr. Bhaben Choudhury. Dr. Choudhury said that the incidence of cancer in oral cavity in Assam increased due to consumption of various forms of tobacco. He appealed to the masses to avoid all form of tobacco which are very injurious to the health. In this connection Sanjevani Hospital already started awareness campaign in various parts of the state.
