Misuse of funds in Dhubri election
There is an allegation that corruption running unabatedly in Dhubri Election Office. It is learnt that on June 2010, a tender was called by the said office for the supply of printing materials for the financial year 2010-11 in the name of Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri. In that tender, total 15 printing presses took part and two or three printing presses failed to submit their tender papers as per the terms and conditions. But to favor those presses, office prepared a false C.S. report by clearly mentioning that the office found the documents of those presses as proper, even though they had failed. Ultimately those are the presses who were awarded huge amount of works for the recently conducted assembly election of Dhubri district, depriving other presses.
It also came to light that the Dhubri Election Office had fixed a much higher rate in his own by rejecting the rate of the lowest bidder. And amazingly enough, the office let to know that the tender of the lowest bidder was not cancelled.
It is mentionable here that the rates fixed by Dhubri Election Office are the DC’s approved rates, so the elections offices of Bilasipara and Hatsingimari are also bound to follow those rates for any kind of supply and printing works and this way crores of rupees being misused. People felt that other the election offices of different districts of Assam are also misusing tax payers’ money in the name of election each year.
