Govt steps in to woo people, isolate Akhil

In a bid to isolate Akhil Gogoi a day after the gory police firing in Dispur, the Assam government announced that it will directly talk to the indigenous people in protest for land rights.

Addressing a joint press conference in Dispur on Thursday, Assam government spokesman Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and forest minister Rockybul Hussain said that the government won’t involve any organization in this process.

Hussain said the government would soon set a huge hill protection force. They made it clear that the government will never allow anybody to grab forest properties.

Meanwhile, the government announced a high level panel to study the land right process. The government announcement assumes significance a day after 3 died in police firing at the height of a clash of protesters with policemen at a KMSS rally in Dispur.
