Defy militant diktat on R-day: JFA

Journalists Forum of Assam(JFA) has appealed to the people of North East India to defy militants diktat to boycott Republic Day celebrations. They urged the people to observe it in a befitting manner.

JFA President Rupam Barua and Secretary Nava Thakuria said in a statement in Guwahati said,” we should celebrate Republic Day and also Independence Day to honour hundreds and thousand patriots and martyrs who faced immense trouble to make the country independent.''

Notably, around 12 outfits including the anti-talk faction of United Liberation Front of Asom, Coordination Committee (umbrella organisation of seven militant outfits of Manipur), Kamatapur Liberation Organisation, National Liberation Front of Tripura, Tripura Peoples' Democratic Front and Hynnewtrep National Liberation Front have called for a boycott on Republic Day.

The association has invited all journalists and citizens to participate in the Republic Day celebration at Guwahati Press Club on Republic Day.
