Socio-economic awareness cycle rally in Kalaigaon LAC

A big socio-economic awareness cycle rally was organised at Kalaigaon on March 1 (under Kalaigaon Revenue Circle,Udalguri Zilla part) as a part of the National Socio-Economic and Caste Census,2012. The awarenes cycle rally had started from Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office premises at 11 AM. All the Gaonburahs, Mondals,leading citizens and officials accompanied the awareness cycle rally.The members of the rally headed by Dinomoni Das, Charge Officer cum Circle Officer, Kalaigaon Revenue Circle and accompanied by Mouzadars- Kamal Prasad Sarma and Hemanga Bora toured through Kalaigaon town. Several street meetings were arranged at various villages namely Chintagaon, Majorchuba, Damarapota and Niz Kalaigaon.The members of the cycle rally numbering more than hundred finally reached Niz Kalaigaon LP School at 2 PM.An awareness meeting was held there which was presided over by Sarat Rabha, headmaster of Niz Kalaigaon LPS.

Addressing people there Dinamoni Das,Charge Officer,Kalaigaon Revenue Circle requested people to cooperate with the enumerators (data entry operators) who would be visiting houses to collect socio-economic data.He also asked people to give accurate data for a correct national register. Nearly five hundred people attended the awareness meeting. It is worth mentioning that another such awareness cycle rally was in Lakhimpur village under Kalaigaon Revenue Circle (Darrang Zilla part)in the last week of February this year. The members of the cycle rally distributed leaflets, posters,banners etc as part of the awareness campaign.

It needs mention that Kalaigaon Revenue Circle has been divided into 41 enumerator blocks covering 78 villages in Udalguri Zilla part and 12 enumerator blocks covering 25 villages in Darrang Zila part. According to Charge Officer,10 supervisors have been appointed in Udalguri part while 3 in Darrang part.
