Media workshop begins at Press Club
The first session of the workshop was addressed by Dr SI Ahmed, chairman of AIDS Prevention Society, who highlighted the convincing role of media in fighting against the HIV-AIDS menace around the globe.
The programme is led by two American faculty members (James D. Kelly and Jyotika Ramaprasad) with experience in print and television journalism, photojournalism, and social marketing communication campaigns. James Kelly has worked for the Associated Press and for the South Bend (Indiana) Tribune newspaper and is Associate Professor at Indiana University. Similarly Jyotika Ramaprasad has worked on communication campaigns for international agencies including Asian Disaster Preparedness Center, Bangkok, Thailand and is Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University.
Altogether seven journalists have participated in the workshop, informs Nava Thakuria, Secretary of Guwahati Press Club.
