Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

An eerie silence prevails at Raha in Nagaoan district a day after a local boy was killed in police firing on a group of protesters who demanded AIIMS in the area. Road accident claims 1

One person was killed when a passenger carrying bus Binapani express (AS13 3681) collided with a Mahindra Bolero vehicle (TR-01 V 0226) at NH-31 Dhakpara area under Baihata Charali PS on Thursday. The bus was on its way from Guwahati to Tangla when it collided with the Bolero at Baihata Chariali. The driver of the Bolero died as an impact of the accident critically injuring four passengers of the Bolero, police said. The injured have been rushed to Tola Ram Bafna Civil Hospital, Amingaon. The dead have not been identified till the filling of this report.

Hours after BJP topguns in Guwahati endorsed the move to auction 12 oilfields and to welcome the foreign Hindu refugees, AJYCP threatens to launch a massive agitation to force the government to undo it.
