Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

Sonowal meets Modi, seeks more help

Gupta laid to rest

Journalist Nand Kishor Gupta (46), breathed his last yesterday in Mumbai was laid to rest today (10 June) after necessary rituals. Mortal remains of Gupta were taken to Guwahati by a morning flight and he was paid last tribute by the members of Guwahati Press Club on way to his city residence. The soft spoken journalist was suffering from gallbladder cancer and referred to Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai for his treatment. He went there on 3 June last. Senior journalist Nand Kishor Gupta (46) breathed his last at the Mumbai airport around 3.10 pm today (9 June 2016) on his way back to Guwahati. A member of Guwahati Press Club, Gupta was suffering from gallbladder cancer and was referred to the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai for his treatment. He left for Mumbai on June 3 last. Senior city-based journalist Nand Kishor Gupta is presently undergoing treatments for serious ailments at Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai. Poaching riddles Kaziranga; rhino killed

After a brief lull, poaching starts riddling Kaziranga again. Poachers killed a rhino and took away the horn from the national park on Wednesday hours after Pramila Rani Brahma got tougher with the officials. The incident took place at the Agoratoli range of the world heritage site in the wee hours where the forest guards got to hear the sound of gun firing near the Demow camp. Akhil back with a bang!

Akhil Gogoi is back in business with a huge protest rally outlining a few old demands in Guwahati on Monday a couple of days after the change of guards in Dispur. Flanked by prominent intellectual Dr Hiren Gohain, Gogoi vowed to go hammer and tongue against the anti people policies of the governments both in Delhi and Dispur. Addressing the fellow protesters, the duo threatened to launch a massive stir if the government refuses to listen to the voice of protest. Health cards distributed among Guwahati scribes

The Narayana Super-specialty Hospital has offered the Journalist Privilege Cards to the member-journalists of Guwahati Press Club. Over 175 health cards were distributed among the scribes in a function held on , June 4 at GPC auditorium. Senior officials of the north Guwahati based hospital including Amit G. BSF boss visits Indo-Bangla border

BSF Director General K K Sharma visited the Indo-Bangladesh border in Silchar sector on Saturday a few days after Union home minister Rajnath Singh ordered complete seal of the international border.    According to official sources, during the inspection, the BSF chief visited Steamerghat based border outpost where the officials apprised him of the state of affairs in the 3.5 km unfenced border portion. He further got a view of the riverine international border on Kushyara and talked to the BSF jawans asking them to guard against the trans border crimes.
