Dima Hasao election: nomination papers scrutinised

Scrutiny of nomination papers for election to 11th North Cacher Hills Autonomous council was done on Monday in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner and Returning officer Barun Bhuyan. All total 162 nomination papers were received against 28 constituencies. About 12,1178 voters will go to poll on 20 May.

The congress youth wing leader, Jivraj Daulagupu, on being denied the party ticket, has resigned from congress to contest the forthcoming 11th N.C Hills Autonomous Council election as an independent candidate. Speaking to the media persons, Daulagupu said that with heavy heart he would be contesting the coming election, scheduled to be held on 20 May 2013, from Haflong constituency. He also said that the congress should not have deprived the youth from exercising their democratic rights. Speaking to the media persons Debojeet Thaosen, former CEM, expressed his hope that in the forthcoming election to the 11th N.C Hills Autonomous Council Ccongress(I) will come out with landslide victory. Observing the voting behaviour of the people, he said that some will vote for the party and some will vote for individuals; but most of the people will vote for the party- the hand symbol.Referring to other political parties in the race, he said that there is not a single opposition party to be seen which is strong enough to shake the concrete base of congress in the district. Therefore, there is no question why congress would not come back to power.
