Bhergaon sans BSNL services

People of sub-divisional HQ Bhergaon in Udalguri district have condemned BSNL authority for not restoring landlines services at Bhergaon during last ten years. Being a sub divisional HQ,Bhergaon accommodates several government and public sector offices including SDO (Civil) office and courts,Sub-divisional Police office, BDO office,Police Station,ITI,Post Office,SBI branch etc beside many educational institutions. People have been deprived of many important services like broad band internet,FAX,etc. Media fraternity had been mostly effected with no Fax or internet service available at Bhergaon. Scribes have been running to Tangla town (15 KM) for every single Fax or e-mail.

People of Bhergaon submitted several memorandums to BSNL GM at Tezpur long back demanding establishment of a telephone exchange at Bhergaon.They also requested BTC chief Hagrama Mahilary seeking his personal intervention in the matter.But nothing happened in the last decade. At a time when BSNL authority has been providing various communication services even at remote places of the country, it has been a matter of surprise that people living in a sub-divisional HQ have been deprieved of most needed facilities. Members of Bhergaon Press Club and Bhergaon unit of ABSU have strongly condemned BSNL authority for not restoring landline services there till now. People still believe that BSNL would restore the Fax and net services at Bhergaon immediately. It needs mention that perhaps Bhergaon is the only sub-divisional HQ in Assam without having Fax or net facilities.
