Steps to end border tension
The Assam-Meghalaya joint district level border meeting in Dhubri
resolved to end tension. Both sides urged the student bodies to end
the economic blockade. The joint meeting took place at the Circuit
House in Hatsingimari in Dhubri district. Deputy Commissioners and
Superintendents of Police of the five districts of the Garo Hills
region attended the meeting with their counterpart of Dhubri district.
The economic blockade has entered its sixth day on Friday on the NEC
road which is the lifeline for the five districts of Garo Hills in
Meghalaya. Meghalaya promised to pay an ex-gratia to the next of kin
of those killed, apart from placing other demands before the Meghalaya
Government.
