Nava Saikia killing: People demand action against police
More trouble brews in Biswanath following the killing of Naba Saikia by police saying him to be a hardcore ULFA militant on Friday morning which runs into a hail of protest from the local people. Hundreds of people in the area have gheraoed the Biswanath Police station while some others are blocking the national Highway demanding action against the killing in the name of fake encounter.
Naba fell seriously injured during a raid conducted at a deserted building in Madhapur gaon early in the morning. The police team led by its special operation cell superintendent Jitmol Doley rushed him to the nearest hospital but died on the way to it. The police have further claimed that another ULFA militant managed to flee from the spot and said they have recovered a 9mm pistol four rounds of ammunitions from the encounter site. The entire raid was a secret one and even the Biswanath police not aware of it.
