JK Borgohain passes away

Veteran journalist, prolific writer and socio economic and political analyst Jatindra Kumar Borgohain passed away on Wednesday following a brief illness.

Borgohain died two died at the Hayat Hospital at around 2-50 in the afternoon two days after he was rushed to it following a serious ailment. Despite best “possible” treatment, he failed to recuperate. He was 72.

Borgohain, who hailed from Jakhalabandha area in Nagaon district started his career of service as an assistant professor of economics in JB College. In 1992, he came to Guwahati and joined as editor wioth a vernacular daily. Since then, he served several media houses. He further joined as  editor in chief with a city based news channel.  A pall of gloom descended as soon as the news of his demise spread like wild fire.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi along with many other political and non political leadersand organizations expressed deep shock at his demise.

BPF unhappy with Centre?

The Centre’s Rs 1000 crore pre poll announcement for BTAD is bound embitter relationship between BJP and BPF. Talking to reporters on Saturday BTAD chief Hagrama Mohilary said that he has not received anything from the Centre out of the Rs 1,000 crore promised in the pre poll scene. “I have not received anything. Drug lord in police dragnet

The police have unearthed a huge den of druglords hours after they arrested a notorious peddler in Tinsukia who was believed to have made some sensational revelations during interrogation.Popularly known as Md Ilahi Sheikh, he has given some stunning confession about his operation in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh when he confessed before policed after a team of police caught him at a hideout in Tipam Lalpahar in Tinsukia district. A nondescript hamlet in Morigaon district of Assam, of late, seems to have taken the centrestage of attraction. But only for wrong reasons.
