National Voters Day observed in Kalaigaon LAC

National Voters Day has been observed in 65 Kalaigaon LAC on January 24 and 25 with various programmes.The celebration was organised by the ERO (Electorate Registration Officer) of Kalaigaon LAC. On the occasion a grand cycle rally was organised on January 24 at 11 am. The rally was flagged off and accompanied by Dina Moni Das,ERO of Kalaigaon LAC. The rally toured several villages namely- Bholabari, Nahorbari, Nizdola,Tokankata etc covering a distance of 30 KM. Posters and leaflets etc were distributed among villagers to create awareness of voting.Gaonbura, BLO (Booth Level Officer), Mouzadars and other officials and citizens etc took part in the cycle rally. Several roadside meetings were arranged in the respective villages.The motto was to create awareness among voters so as to excercise their voting rights for the smooth running of Indian democracy.An open public meeting,which was conducted by Kamal Prasad Sarma, Mouzadar, Kalaigaon was held at Nizdola Surabhi Sangha at 3 PM. Dina Mini Das,ERO,65 No.Kalaigaon LAC addressed the meeting as the chief guest. On the occasion he requested voters to cast their voted without fear or pressure. He also requested youths to register their names in the voters list in time. The meeting was also addressed by M U Ahmed,OC,Kalaigaon Police Station and gaonbura Basundhar Rabha. The total numbers of voters in the LAC as per 2014 voters list is 1,44.365 (male-74,365 and female 69,710)Total polling centres in the LAC are 168. The process of distribution of the voters identity card has also been launched since December 18,2013.
