Rural Water Supply and Sanitation project at Khagorijan

Moulana Mustaq Anfar, President Anfar Foundation inaugurated the community toilet on Wednesday at Khagorijan village under Lumding block in Nogaon district. Anfar Foundation is implementing “Rural Water Supply and Sanitation” project in Khagorijan Panchayat under Lumding block with the financial assistance of Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW). Under the project, 25 ring wells and 140 units of double pit latrines will be constructed to improve the water and sanitation condition of the remote panchayat. For decades, the villagers are struggling for safe drinking water. During winter session, when ground water level recedes to maximum, women have to spent sleepless nights or have to walk miles to collect water. The biggest irony of this area is that during winter session many anganwadi centers (ICDS) were shut down due to non availability of drinking water.  It is expected that the ongoing WASH project will cut down the safe drinking water crisis to a large extent.
