Divided Soul to be screened at Mumbai Film Fest February 8
The Divided Soul, a documentary on the plight of Assamese people of China origin during the Indo-China war, has entralled the journalists at the Mumbai International Film Festival. Sahitya Academy award winner and producer of documentary Dr. Reeta Choudhury said today the film on plight of Assamese people of Chaina origin during Indo-China war. The documentary tells about the plight of the Assamese people of Chinese origin, who were subjected to persecution during the Indo- China War in 1962 and some of whom were deported to China after the war. This unrecorded history of the lives of the Indian-Chinese was in dark for last 48 years.
On Chinapatti of Makum in Tinsukia district of Assam, Choudhury saw the sufferings of the Indo-Chinese people and that inspired her to write the novel "Makam" and to produce the documentary.
Terming those people as friends, Choudury said : "They are originally Indian origin. They are our people. They must get equal security. The screening will be held on February 8 in Tata Theater at 2.30 pm.

Citizen Journalism (CJ) and application of new media technology are the new age of communicating issues that impact lives of people on a daily basis. This message on plural and a more democratic media emerged out of a series of recently concluded CJ training workshops. Organised by Babul Gogoi, a proponent of new media, and supported by Panos South Asia (PSA), Impulse NGO Network (INGON) and Foundation for People’s Empowerment (FPE), the workshops were held on July 27 and 29 in Guwahati and Shillong respectively.
