Hagrama tables Rs.202172.81 lakh budget

A two day budget session of BTC for 2017-18 financial year begins today at BTC Legislative Assembly House with Tridiv Daimary,Speaker of BTC Legislative Assembly, in the chair in Kokrajhar. The session was started with question hour by Jyotirindra Nath Brahma,UPPL MCLA.The house discussed on various subjects,which included river bank erossion, forest protection, agricultural, education, health,road communication,irrigation etc.

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary,who is also finance in-charge tabled Rs. 202172.81 lakh budget for the 2017-18 financial year for BTC with a surplus of 431.38 lakhs.

Mohilary,in his budget speech highlighted the education, irrigation, agriculture, road communication, health,forest department to make more gaining of development with involvedment of common masses.

Mohilary said the budget is mean for council development,which estimated receipt and expenditure of normal budget of BTC(councilised portion) for the year 2017-18 with estimatedreceiptr of Rs.202172.81 lakh and expenditure of Rs.201741.43 lakh with surplus of Rs.431.38 lakh.

The budget saw several earmarked for several departments,which included fisheries(535 lakh),soil & water conservation(550 lakh),transport(330 lakh),forest & wildlife(5084.85 lakh),education(10,913.76 lakh),social welfare & nutrition(10,034.53 lakh),health & family welfare(2705 lakh) etc. Opposition members expresses their dissatisfied with budget presented today by Mohilary.

Rwngwra Narzary and Maoti Brahma Hazoary said that the budget tabled was fixed frame by state govt,it is nothing for council region.

They demanded separate budget space ahead state budget because the BTC has a legislative assembly status.

‘BTC’s budget should be organised before state Assembly to meet groievances of the councl region with positive communication’,Narzary said.
