Bodo Sahitya Sabha Raises Concern Over Delay in Textbook Distribution
Bodo Sahitya Sabha, the apex literary body of the Bodo community, has expressed serious concern over the recurring delay in the distribution of textbooks to students studying in Bodo-medium schools across Assam.
Addressing reporters during a press conference held in Kokrajhar on Sunday, BSS president Gopinath Borgoyary urged the concerned department and the Assam government to take immediate measures to resolve the issue and ensure timely supply of textbooks in future academic sessions.
Borgoyary alleged that students from Bodo-medium educational institutions face shortages of textbooks every year due to negligence on the part of the authorities concerned. He said that although the academic session has already commenced as per the annual academic calendar, many students are yet to receive their textbooks.
He appealed to the state government to adopt concrete and permanent measures to address the problem, stating that the repeated delays are adversely affecting the academic progress of students studying in Bodo-medium schools.
The BSS president also expressed concern over the declining enrolment in vernacular-medium schools and appealed to parents and guardians to encourage children to pursue education in their mother tongue.
He further urged the Government of Assam and the Education Department to ensure that the delay in textbook distribution for Bodo-medium schools is resolved at the earliest across the state.
