Udalguri: The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) on Monday announced the candidates for 4 LAC's of Udalguri district viz.. Udalguri, Paneri,Mazbat and Kalaigaon showing doors to two of its sitting MLA's. While Assam Cabinet Minister and BPF leader Rihon Daimari have retained candidature for Udalguri,Mazbat sitting MLA Charan Boro have been nominated for Mazbat seat . Two new faces have been provided candidature in Paneri and Kalaigaon LAC's . BPF Organizing Secretary, Karuna Kanta Swargiary have been nominated as BPF candidate for Paneri LAC while veteran politician and Congressman who switched to BPF Durga Das Boro have been given candidature for Kalaigaon LAC. Talking to media persons Karuna Kanta Swargiary said ,"The party have bestowed me with responsibilities and I will fight the poll and confident of emerging victorious with good margins." He further reiterated his commitment to work for resolving the issues of drinking water facilities and man-elephant conflict if voted to power .
In a major setback for the Congress, which has been struggling hard to regain strength since 2014, has today lost two of its prominent faces in Assam.
Sitting MLA of Badarpur, Jamaluddin Ahmed and former MLA of Dergaon Aroti Kachari Hazarika passed away. The Dergaon politican was 59.
The two leaders' deaths were mourned by many including APCC president Ripun Bora, former minister Bismita Gogoi, among others.
Noted Assamese linguist and former Cotton College professor Dr. Ramesh Pathak is no more.
The professor has passed away today after a brief illness. His death is mourned by many. Born in Tihu, Nalbari Dr. Pathak has made tremendous contribution in the field of the Assamese linguistic by penning a number of books.
A few years ago, he was bestowed with the Sahityacharrya Award by the Asam Sahitya Sabha.

Guwahati : In a first, AASU leadership has reined in Samujjal Bhattacharya saying that the yet to be inducted adviser is not competent to make any statement on behalf of the state's influential student body.
AASU general secretary Sankarjyoti Baruah said that the executive body has yet to confirm his assignment.

Celebrated Assamese dramatist Sewabrat Baruah is no more. One of the finest dramatists of the contemporary era, Baruah passed away last night after a prolonged illness. The news has saddened all Assamese drama-lovers. His demise is mourned by many. A few months ago, he suffered a brain stroke.

A Dimapur-Guwahati bus has, on Saturday, met with an accident at Golaghat.
As per reports the bus while heading to Dimapur accidentally veered off the main road in the wee hours at Garampani. Fortunately, all passengers were safely rescued.
The driver and the handiman of the bus ran away after the accident, sources said.
The United Liberation Front of Assam(Independent) Assam has claimed the responsibility of the blast that occurred at upper Assam town of Digboi, near an army camp.
Taking the responsibility, the banned outfit's has issued statement.
In the statement signed by its publicity department's in-charge self-styled Captain Deep Asom said, “At around 6-45pm on January 22, 2021 a bomblast occured at the camp of the 3rd Garhowal regiment of the Indian Army. In a tragic accident, six migrant workers from Assam, reportedly, died in a forest area in Meghalaya after falling into a pit. The NDTV has reported that the accident occured in East Jayantia Hills.
