BK Handique files nomination

Jorhat Congress candidate Bijoy Krishna Handique filed his nomination papers on Wednesday.

Flanked by senior party leaders, the fourth time MP filed his nomination before the returning officer at 11-30 in the morning.

Earlier, Congress workers took Handique to the DC office premises in Jorhat with a procession.

Once again Ulfa springs surprise. In a significant move that gives Congress some sort of relief, the banned outfit has decided not to give bandh call to disrupt the visitofprime minister Manmohan Singh slated for April 7. This was what Ulfa publicity wing leader Arunodoy Dohotiya announced at a statement e-mailed to assamtimes on Tuesday. The announcement further suggests that ULFA will not oppose the visit of Dr Singh on April 11 to cast his vote in Dispur.
