The state is ready to go to the third and final phase of Lok Sabha polls on Thursday. This phase will cover six constituencies where 94,37,731 electors will decided the fate of 74 candidates.
As many as 47,976 polling personnel have already reached 1,994 polling stations in the six Lok Sabha constituencies where voting will take place from 7 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon.
Guwahati has maximum 18 candidates whereas Kokrajhar has minimum 6 candidates. On the other hand, Guwahati has maximum number of 19,21,374 electors, whereas Barpeta has minimum number of 14,24,638 electors.
Even as the main contest would be among the Congress, the BJP, the AGP and the AIUDF, as many as 29 Independent candidates are in the fray.
Security has been tightened, particularly in BTAD areas where the NDFB(S) is active and sporadic incidents of pre-poll violence occurred with 75 companies of security forces being deployed.
Maximum security has been concentrated along the international border with Bangladesh and Bhutan in Dhubri, Barpeta and Mangaldoi constituencies too.
Polling will take place on May 16.
