Polling is over in six Lok Sabha constituencies. The turn out is believed to have crossed 85 per cent in Nagaon, Barpeta, Guwahati, Mangaldoi, Dhubri and Kokrajhar.
Now the fate of 74 candidates is sealed in the electronic voting machines which would be taken for counting on May 16.
Braving a burning sun shine, voters in large numbers exercised their franchise in from 7 in the morning to 5 in the evening.
The polling officials found it quite difficult to help the huge numbers of voters cast their votes only by the 5 in the evening. They were allowed to vote even by 7-30 in the evening.
