Braving incessant rains, devotees from the state and outside are pouring in Nilachal hilltop after the ambubachi festival got underway on Sunday.
Over 2 lakh devotees are arriving from different parts of the state to make a glimpse of the festival near the Kamakhya temple.
More people are expected to land in the historic place when the trains carrying the pilgrims are set to arrive in Guwahati on Monday.
Security forces are on round the clock vigil apprehending militant attack in the annual festival.
Top ranked civil and police officials have been monitoring the security scenario at the entire hill where the tourism department sponsored festival is underway.
The doors of the ancient temple will remain closed till Thursday.
